Where "Bamboo" begins

The artist's civic commitment

Concerned about climate change and determined to do something to change the future, in November 2022 Simone Di Biagio took part in several nonviolent civil disobedience actions with the controversial organization "Ultima Generazione." It was there that he realized these initiatives didn't just involve activists: they also involved observers, inviting them (or forcing them) to take a stand, to act, or not to act. It was as if it were a large open-air theater, where spectators were unaware of their presence.

"Così... su due ruote" project.

At the same time Circo all'inCirca was organizing a project aimed at creating a zero-emission show. The goal was to create an eco-sustainable vehicle on which to perform a low-emission performance, a pretext for bringing together various players in creativity, traditional business, and the inclusion of people with disabilities on common ground, capable of revitalizing various artistic and entrepreneurial sectors towards new and profitable projects. Through the creation of a performance project, these organizations have the opportunity to collaborate and generate culture around the challenge of reducing CO2 emissions. The meeting is not only aimed at an artistic performance, but also at creating a path to disseminate and raise awareness about the creative and artisanal processes that can contribute to the ecological transition.

The bycicle

A zero-emission tour

A modified cargo bike that can carry the entire set, including the stage, so everything needed can be transported to the next performance. The vehicle was supplied by the Friulian company "Giancargo Bike" and modified by architect Matteo Carli of the "Puntozero" cooperative. The artist reaches the performance venues exclusively by bicycle, so intermediate stops are necessary if the performance is to take place several kilometers from the starting point. This is another way to involve the organizers in the "slow" choices that characterize the project.
