A study on imagination.
This is a contemporary circus project conceived by Sarah Ferretti, with Sarah Ferretti and Paola Caruso, exploring the power of imagination as a tool for individual and collective transformation. At the heart of the creation is a large paper installation, a kind of creature or “giant” with an ever-changing skin. It transforms throughout the performance, reshaping the space it inhabits as it changes. Paper thus becomes a living material: skin, memory, experience, and a surface onto which new visions can be projected.
An immersive environment
The project creates an immersive environment in which there is no clear separation between stage and audience: the audience is inside the performance space, free to experience it from 360 degrees, shift their point of view, and become an active part of this play on imagination. The performance invites us to slow down, observe, listen, and allow ourselves to be guided by images that resist immediate interpretation, making sensory experience and our relationship with space central elements of the artistic research.
Not only circus.
Visual arts, performance, sound construction
The artistic language emerges from the encounter between circus, visual arts, movement, and sound. Circus technique is not used as a spectacular end in itself, but as a means of creation: the trapeze becomes part of the installation, transforming in turn into an architectural element, a body, a suspended home, or a garment. Circus and material thus come together to create images that suggest different perspectives and meanings. At the same time, Paola Caruso creates the soundscape live through the manipulation of paper, microphones, and a loop station, establishing an ongoing dialogue between what is seen, what is heard, and what unfolds in the space. The performance thus becomes a collective exercise in imagination: an open experience that adapts to different spaces and contexts, inviting each spectator not simply to observe, but to construct their own vision and recognise themselves as a potential co-creator of the reality around them. The performance lasts approximately 40 minutes, is suitable for a broad audience, and can be presented both indoors and outdoors.
